Most Popular Jobs During The Pandemic

Posted on Friday 21 May 2021

Although the pandemic has literally taken out 98% of the jobs out there, a lot of new opportunities have also shown up. Especially after we started getting some control back.

Getting CERB payments definitely helps but having a solid job is truly something else.

Not to mention how it helps greatly in restoring your sense of financial normalcy. Especially during these interesting times.

Let's have a look at the best jobs you can get during this period.

Becoming a Nurse

Now this might not be the best job to get right away, as you do have to become certified (Which requires some time).

However, if you happen to be licensed, there's no better time to get into this field. Not only nursing is one of the most in-demand jobs right now, just by rendering your services, you'll be helping a lot of people out as well.

Regrettably, there is a downside and that is the obvious exposure to Covid-19.

However, if you feel you're generally healthy and have a desire to make a difference, have a look at dusting off that nursing license of yours.

Plus you will have our gratitude and everyone else's forever.

Online Teacher

Most provinces are still struggling to decide if schools should be open or not. This has (No pun intended) opened new opportunities as well.

Especially for teachers.

Now you can teach from home and get paid.

How?

You can work as a teacher from home using Zoom or other video teleconferencing software all while making a positive impact in your community.

The best part about this job is you can get started right away, as there is a massive demand for online teachers.

Plus, you can literally teach about anything that you desire.

So how do you make money from it?

When you can either charge people an hourly rate or have some other custom arrangement.

It really depends on you. Some are making really good money with this and have increased their savings dramatically.

One thing is for sure, online teaching jobs have become a necessity as people are staying home and they are literally bored out of their minds.

Some are even having mental health issues so your teaching abilities can do much more than just provide a quality education on a certain subject.

You just might be saving a life or two and getting paid.

Customer Service Representative

Believe it or not, even during this pandemic, customer service jobs are still available.

Especially if you apply to a large corporation. One great advantage that you will have this time is you can once again, work remotely. So you can stay home, help people out during these stressful times, and collect a biweekly paycheque (Or whatever your deal maybe).

Although there has been a drastic reduction in customer service rep jobs, they are still available.

You just have to find them. Sites like Indeed and a whole bunch of other sites will help you get in the game almost right away.

Especially now that things are somewhat getting back to normal. The demand is high as people want to get back to normalcy as soon as possible.

So in some cases, the hiring process has been expedited as well.

Serving in the Hospitality Space

Now this really depends on where you live, but like in Vancouver, BC, they still have patios open.

Which means restaurants can serve food in their patios but not indoors.

So to obviously serve their customers, restaurants are still hiring servers. In a lot of cases, the restaurant owners have simply reached out to their previous employees.

However, a lot of previous employees have simply quit or moved on.

Which has opened new doors in this industry. Especially for new possible staff.

So if you like working around people (Not the best time for it) but if it’s something you want to do, definitely contact your local restaurants that are open and are seeking help.

Local Grocery Store Clerk

If you don't want to work too far from where you live and stay safe in the process, there's a good chance you can get hired as a local grocery store clerk.

Yes it may sound like you're going back to your high school days but grocery stores are one of the few businesses right now that are open, and the business is booming.

So if you're looking for a steady paycheque, working at the local grocery store clerk might just be up your alley.

They also have very good safety procedures which may help alleviate any Covid-19 related stress that you may have.

Work for Amazon

If there is one business that has only seen profits during this time (Record breaking profits), well that is Amazon.

Amazon warehouses are literally all over the place and they're looking for entry-level warehouse clerks to meet the demand.

Not only that, if you have some managerial experience, you can even get hired as a manager for their warehouse. The pay is considered quite good and the benefits are raved about pretty much all over the place.

Let’s not forget they are very big on safety as well. Although some warehouses (Like two in Ontario) have been known to partially shut down. Due to the lack of exercising Covid-19 related protocols.

There is no doubt that Amazon has seen record-setting growth and they are one of the few companies out there, along with delivery companies (Naturally) who are hiring like crazy right now.

Obviously these are just a few popular jobs that are out there today.

In reality, things are getting better and it seems like more and more businesses are re-opening.

So if it feels right for you, feel free to keep your job search shoes on. You may have a breakthrough sooner than later.

Also keep in mind that sometimes it's okay to just not do anything and take a little break.

There's nothing wrong with not doing anything if it feels right for you.

With or without a job, you're still worthy and perfect in your own way.

You don’t need a paycheque to tell you that.

Remember one thing . . . all the money that you’ve ever made, was made through you.

It all flowed through you.

You are bigger than money. Money is just a tool to serve you. Not the other way around.

Think about that.
